Week 12 Starts and Sits

November 24, 2019

It's already week 12!  Can you believe that!? It feels like a week or two ago that we were doing mock drafts and swooning over our freshly drafted teams.  It's time to make your playoff push. Whether you're a bubble team, going for a bye, or trying to pad your points, it's always a good idea to do your homework and set an optimal lineup.

Matt Ryan vs TB-  The Falcons are having somewhat of a renaissance lately.  They delegated some coaching duties to other coaches and all of a sudden have become a decent football team.  Ryan has a great matchup this week. If you have him, you should be playing him.

Sam Darnold vs OAK-  Darnold has been serviceable as of late.  He has a good matchup against a weak Oakland secondary.  Darnold threw 4 touchdowns last week against Washington. Look for another multi-touchdown game this week.

Derek Carr @ NYJ-  Carr faces the previously mentioned Darnold this week.  This game should be somewhat of a shootout. These two teams can both score and they both have poor defenses.  Look for Carr to continue to have a solid season.

Josh Allen vs DEN-  Allen has been awesome this year.  However, Denver is the 3rd toughest team against quarterbacks.  I'm not a huge fan of this matchup. I would look elsewhere.

Aaron Rodgers @ SF-  Rodgers has been so up and down all season.  The Packers are a run-first team. They no longer need to rely on Rodger's golden arm to win football games and it kills his fantasy value.  Start someone else.

Dak Prescott @ NE-  Prescott is having his best season yet.  Unfortunately, he is going against a historic Patriot's defense in New England.  This matchup has disaster written all over it.

Jaylen Samuels @ CIN-  The Steelers really have no choice but to run the ball.  Their receivers are hurt and their quarterback play is horrendous.  Their only option is to run run run.

Kareem Hunt vs MIA-  This is a great matchup for both Cleveland RB’s.  Chubb is an obvious start so I didn't list him. Hunt will put up rb2/flex numbers this week.  If you have him, play him.

Tevin Coleman vs GB-  Coleman has been pedestrian lately.  This is going to be a big game for him.  Green Bay's defense is weak against the run.  Look for SF to exploit that weakness.

David Montgomery vs NYG-  Montgomery was outplayed by Cohen last week.  On top of that. The Giants run defense has actually been pretty good during the second half of the season.  Look for another stinker by Montgomery.

Ronald Jones vs ATL-  Jones' usage is too erratic.  Couple that with the fact that the Falcons defense has been much improved under the new play-caller, I'd leave Jones on the bench.

Sony Michel vs DAL-  Michel has been very hard to trust this season.  It's even harder to trust him when Burkhead is in the lineup.  I'd look elsewhere for a starting running back this week.

Calvin Ridley vs TB-  This is a prime matchup for Falcon's pass catchers.  A lot of effort will be put into stopping Julio Jones, which will free up a lot of space for Ridley.  If you have him, start him.

Odell Beckham Jr./Jarvis Landry vs MIA-  If there was ever a time to start these guys, this is the week.  Miami is missing a lot of their secondary (as if it was any good, to begin with).  This should be their biggest week of the season.

Jamison Crowder vs OAK-  Crowder has been super reliable with Darnold on the field, especially in ppr.  This is a great matchup for the slot receiver as well.

John Brown vs DEN-  This is a game in which Josh Allen may struggle.  If Allen struggles, Brown will be directly affected by that.  The Bill's offense may have some trouble which will lead to some mediocre fantasy performances.

Emmanuel Sanders vs GB-  Sanders is a little banged up but he will play.  Green Bay has a solid secondary. There is going to be a ton of running in this game also.  I don't like this matchup at all for Sanders.

Robert Woods vs BAL-  Woods missed last week due to personal matters.  On top of that, Cooks will be back in the lineup.  The Rams have been emphasizing the run due to their struggling passing offense.  I'm benching Woods this week.

Ryan Griffin vs OAK-  Darnold loves Griffin.  He is a safety valve for the young quarterback.  Look for more double-digit points from Griffin this week against a soft Oakland secondary.

Vance McDonald @ CIN-  The Steelers will be without their top 2 skill players.  The WR core will be very inexperienced. The Steelers may look to lean on their run game and tight ends to move the chains.  I'd feel comfortable streaming Vance this week.

Jared Cook vs CAR-  Cook has put together a nice string of games lately. The Saints have found a way to include Cook into their game plans as of late.  I'd continue to trust him as a TE1.

Jason Witten @ NE-  Witten has been serviceable on some weeks.  This is not one of them. The Patriot's defense is greedy.  I'd look for a different streaming option this week.

Jimmy Graham @ SF-  The 49ers have a dominant defense.  Graham hasn't been that great this year in a stale Packers passing attack.  This offense is predicated on the run.

Gerald Everett vs BAL-  The Rams are starting to get healthy.  Everett had some good games due to injuries at the WR position.  Also, Goff is really struggling lately. I wouldn't trust Everett this week in a tough matchup.
