The Waiver system is one of the most important parts of fantasy. How you use the waivers can make or break your team. The following players are based on the available players owned in less than 50% in a 10 man .5 PPR format. Good luck this week!
If Kirk Cousins is available, I would recommend him over all the Quarterbacks listed below.
Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers- 33.5% Owned
Jimmy has been up and down all season in fantasy. But last week he looked like he was on a whole other level. This week he faces a Seattle defense that is no longer the elite defense they have been in the past. I expect this game to be a shootout, which will cause Jimmy to lean on his arm for most of the game. Jimmy is a solid bye week fill-in/ mid-tier QB2 with upside.
Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants- 32.8% Owned
Jones has showed potential, but this past week against Dallas was not one of those weeks. I see a different situation coming this week against the New York Jets. He should no problem ripping them to shreds like Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Miami Dolphins did this past week. Jones is a Mid Tier QB2 with upside.
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Tennessee Titans-8% Owned
Of all the quarterbacks on this list, Tannehill has been the most consistent QB since taking over the job for the Titans. This week he faces a Kansas City team that is most likely getting their starting QB back. I believe that the Titans will be down for most of the game, making Tannehill have to chuck it downfield to spark a fire on their side of the field. You could do a lot worse than Tannehill this week. He is a Mid Tier QB with an upside to outperform that as long as the rest of the team shows up.
Ronald Jones, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers- 37.8% Owned
Finally, a running back to talk about! Jones has been hot and cold this year, but last week he finally put up some solid stats. This week he faces a beatable Arizona run defense. Jones should be the top waiver add this week, as you could most certainly plug him right into your lineup. He is a solid bye week fill-in/ flex play.
Trey Edmunds, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers- 1.5% Owned
Edmunds only has value if James Conner is out this week. If he is out, Edmunds has decent value due to how shallow the running back waivers are. Edmunds was very efficient with his running and should continue to have success this week against a beatable LA Rams run defense. If you are truly desperate or in a pinch, you could do worse than Edmunds. He is a low-end flex this week.
At this point, it will always be a cuffing season. If the backup to the main running back(s) is available, I would add them. As long as you have the roster room, and your spot is not needed for any other position.
Kallen Ballage, RB, Miami Dolphins- 8.8% Owned
This is gross but starting running backs have value no matter what team they are on. It will not be pretty, and you have no idea what kind of workload he is going to have. But in the end, he will have value regardless. This week he faces the Indianapolis Colts who will most certainly be in the lead most of the game. Nevertheless, Ballage is a desperate bye week fill in, and a very low-end flex this week.
Devante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins- 22.8% Owned
Parker has sneakily been a solid fantasy asset over his last 5 fantasy matchups. As long as Fitzpatrick is his QB, I do not see that changing. Parker is getting the targets, as well as the occasional touchdown. If byes are hitting you hard, Parker should be your number one WR add. He is a solid flex/ WR3 with upside.
A.J. Brown, WR, Tennessee Titans- 15.1% Owned
Brown hasn’t been amazing, but he has been consistently solid over the last three weeks. With Tannehill behind center, Brown seems to be his go-to guy. Brown will not win you your week by himself, but he will add to the overall value of your team. He is a decent flex this week in which should be a shootout against Kansas City.
Josh Reynolds, WR, LA Rams- 0.9% Owned
Reynolds is a solid play now that Cooks is out for an uncertain amount of time. When given the opportunity last year, Reynolds was a solid addition to fantasy rosters. I believe the same will remain true from here on out. If you need a bye week fill-in or just an upside play, Reynold is a good add this week.
Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys- 50% Owned
Sitting at exactly 50%, Witten just made the cut. Tight end is a rough position as is. Witten isn’t a sexy play, but he offers consistency by the amount of targets he receives. You could do a lot worse than Witten, especially as he sits as the TE12. If you are in a pinch, I would add Witten this week against a beatable Vikings defense.
Honorable Mention: Jack Doyle Vs. Miami
