Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

October 16, 2019

The Waiver system is one of the most important parts of fantasy. How you use the waivers can make or break your team. The following players are based on the available players owned in less than 50% in a 10 man .5 PPR format. Good luck this week!

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills- 47.8 % Owned

There might not be a better streaming option that Allen this week. He faces the Miami Dolphins, and I don’t have to say much more than that to convince you. Allen has a ton of upside, not only this week but for the next several weeks. His schedule is butter, and I believe he will be on a roll. If you can snag him off waivers, I believe you will have a QB1 for weeks to come. Allen is my top waiver at the QB position.

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers, 35.5% Owned

Jimmy G hasn’t been all that spectacular in fantasy football, but he is currently on a 49ers team that has been killing it. This week faces the Washington Redskins. So I am liking my chances that Jimmy is a solid streaming option. His defense will be causing turnovers, giving Jimmy and the offense plenty of time with the ball. With a great matchup, Jimmy is a solid streamer this week. He is a high end QB2 with upside.

Kirk Cousins, QB, Minnesota Vikings- 26.4% Owned

Cousins has looked like a new man over the last two weeks, putting up over 20 fantasy points in each matchup. After his team called him out, Cousins has made a point of chucking the ball downfield. This week I could see it going either way. But I will go with my gut and say that it is another solid day for Cousins against the Lions. Cousins should be able to utilize the passing attack well enough to give him a solid floor this week. He is a mid-tier QB2 with upside.

It is getting gross out there. Waivers are extremely shallow at the running back and wide receiver positions. It is not going to be pretty… but here we go!

Running Backs

Latavius Murray, RB, New Orleans Saints- 47.6% Owned

Something is wrong with Alvin Kamara, and I don’t know if anyone knows for sure what it is. But for the meantime he is being limited by his ailment, leaving Murray as a healthy option for the Saints to utilize. We have seen Murray’s floor ( yuck) but I don’t believe we have seen his ceiling yet this year. If you are in a tough spot, Murray offers decent bye week fill-in/ flex appeal.

Rex Burkhead, RB, New England Patriots- 31.5% Owned

Burkhead was on this list last week as well but ended up sitting out another week. Nothing has changed, as I still believe Burkhead will have a decent role in this offense once healthy. He is for those who are terribly RB needy. If you have a spot to stash him, he may pay off when you need a bye week fill-in/ flex.

At this point, it will always be a cuffing season. If the backup to the main running back(s) is available, I would add them. As long as you have the roster room, and your spot is not needed for any other position.

Wide Receivers

Auden Tate, WR, Cincinnati Bengals- 21.4% Owned

Tate has made this article for the last two weeks, and his ownership is still so low. Tate has been a solid WR3/ flex play since John Ross has been out. He has the target share and is getting enough yardage to stay relevant. I like his chances to continue that, especially against the Jalen Ramsey-less Jaguars this upcoming week.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants- 5.6% Owned

When you’re one of the last men standing, you get a shot at being on the waiver article. This is the case with Slayton, who has shown bursts of ability when given a chance. This week he faces the Cardinals, who have been quite bad on the defensive end of the game. I like his chances of him using his speed and beating defenders. If you are in a pinch, you could do worse than putting Slayton in your lineups.

Cole Beasley, WR, Buffalo Bills- 25.2% Owned

Beasley has been a PPR stud as of late, and it is hard not to be when you get peppered with targets as he does. Beasley will not win you your matchup, but he is a solid play this week against the Dolphins. I believe he will either get into the endzone or get enough targets/yardage to be a WR3/ Flex this week.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, TE, LA Chargers- 54.3% Owned

I am not going to waste your time with maybes. Henry is legit, and he is healthy. If for some reason he is still available, use that waiver on him. He will fit right into your lineup ( tight end/ flex). He will be the last chance you have at getting a week in and week out tight end 1.

Honorable Mentions:

Darren Fells, TE, Houston Texans

Chris Herndon, TE, NYJ ( currently injured)
