Week 5 Starts and Sits

October 5, 2019

I hope everyone is "eating some W's" this year.  Regardless, this is the best time of the year. Football is in full swing.  I'm here to try to make your start/sit decisions easier for you. Let's take a look at what we have this week:

Kyler Murray @ CIN-  Murray appears to have a nice floor of around 15-18 points.  He has a great matchup against a hopeless Bengals defense. This is the week he puts up a 30 burger.

Jacoby Brissett @ KC-  Starting the QB opposite of Mahomes is becoming a weekly trend.  The Chiefs offense just puts up so many points that the other QB has to throw their way out of a hole.  Not to mention Brissett has been very startable all year long.

Deshaun Watson vs ATL-  Watson has been somewhat disappointing this year.  This feels like a "get right" game to me. I like most of the Texan's offense to produce quite a bit in this matchup i.e. Hopkins, Fuller, Hyde.

Daniel Jones vs MIN-  Jones looks pretty good so far, but as with most rookies...he is turnover prone.  He will be facing a Minnesota defense that is pretty tight on quarterback production.  I'd leave the kid on the bench for now and find another option.

Baker Mayfield @ SF-  To be quite frank, Mayfield is just not who we thought he was.  He has a pretty high turnover rate. Regardless of what he has done thus far, this isn't a great matchup for him either.  The 49er's defense has been surprisingly good this year. Keep Mayfield on the bench this week.

Jameis Winston @ NO-  Winston has been great the last two weeks, but do we really trust him?  This is the same defense that completely shut down Dak and the Cowboy's high scoring offense.  My problem with Winston is his incredibly low floor. With that being said, I'm looking elsewhere for a QB this week.

Damien Williams vs IND-  Williams has been out with an injury but makes his return this week.  It's easy to forget how good this guy is with the way McCoy and Darrell Williams have played.  The truth is, Damien is a great pass catcher out of the backfield. That is a huge part of the Chief's offense.  Start Williams with confidence this week.

Melvin Gordon/Austin Ekeler vs DEN-  This is a great matchup for these two.  I predict that there will be nearly a 50/50 split at running back for the Chargers in week 5.  They're going to ease Gordon in and Ekeler's production thus far allows them to do that.

Marlon Mack/Nyheim Hines @ KC-  These guys could both do well this week.  I like Hines due to the likely game script of the Colts playing catchup.  I also think Mack will be good for a touchdown or two if he plays.

Josh Jacobs vs CHI-  I am not a fan of Jacobs in this matchup.  Chicago's defense is a menace. Also, Jacobs hasn't been too great lately.  Keep Jacobs on your bench this week.

David Montgomery vs OAK-  Not only is Montgomery sharing his backfield, but Oakland has also been pretty good at holding down the run game.  Guys like Lindsay, Mack, McCoy, and Damien Williams have been held under 50 yards by the Raider's defense.

Sony Michel vs WAS-  Can you say bust?  I was pretty hyped on this guy coming into the season and he is just not what I thought he was.  He's getting the carries on a great offense and is not doing much with them. Not to mention it's a bit crowded in his backfield.  Chances are you have a better option than Michel this week.

Alshon Jeffery vs NYJ-  The Jets have a pretty poor pass defense.  Wentz has been spot on this year. When Alshon is on the field, he is productive.  He appears to be healthy and has an awesome matchup this week. Take advantage of it and start him.

Larry Fitzgerald @ CIN-  Christian Kirk will be inactive on Sunday.  This opens up some more targets for Fitz. He has found the fountain of youth yet again this year.  Father time is going to have a huge stat line this week. Don't miss out on it!

Marquez Valdes-Scantling @ DAL-  After having a career game, star wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a toe injury.  He has already been ruled out for week 5. This opens up a ton of targets for MVS. I look for MVS to have over 100 yards and a touchdown this week.

Sterling Shepard vs MIN-  I think that the Giants are going to have a hard time moving the ball against a stout Minnesota defense.  In addition to this, Golden Tate is fresh off of his four-game suspension and is ready to steal some of those targets.  I would leave Shepard on the bench until we see who the number one is on this team.

Terry McLaurin vs NE-  New England's defense has been unstoppable this season.  They are keeping everyone in check. I'd advise benching Scary Terry for the week, especially with Colt McCoy starting.

Tyrell Williams vs Chicago-  Tyrell has a questionable tag coming into this game, so he might not even play.  But if he does play, you shouldn't start him. He will be hampered by injury against one of the toughest defenses in the league.  No thanks.

Jimmy Graham @ DAL-  This is my favorite stream this week.  With Adams out, I'm willing to bet that Graham will be one of the main focal points of the Green Bay offense.  I'm feeling a multiple touchdown game for Graham this week.

Eric Ebron/Jack Doyle-  The Colts will be chasing points in this game.  They will need all hands on deck. Enter their tight end duo.  These two are decent streaming options this week. I'm not crazy about either guy, but I like them if you are in need of a tight end play this week.

Austin Hooper @ HOU-  This is the late-round tight end that we all should have been drafting.  Hooper has really turned out to be one of the best options at tight end. He has a decent matchup in what should be a high scoring affair.

Delanie Walker vs BUF-  The Buffalo pass defense is super nice.  They have been shutting everyone down. Walker has been okay so far but I really think that he will be contained this week.

OJ Howard @ NO-  I had such high hopes for this dude.  He is a super talented guy in a high octane offense, yet he has nothing to show for it.  Arians isn't exactly known for producing great tight ends though. If you're even still rostering OJ, I'd sit him in week 5.

Mark Andrews @ PIT-  I know I know.  I'm crazy for putting Andrews in the sit column.  I have my reasons. Pittsburgh has a few very athletic guys that can keep up and contain Andrews(Bush, Edmunds, Fitzpatrick).  It's likely that you don't have a better option, but if you do I really think that Andrews will have a subpar week.
