Week 2 Starts & Sits

September 15, 2018

Start - Jimmy Garoppolo

Matchup - Lions

Last week was a matchup against a really good Vikings defense, but this week he gets a defense that ranked last year as the 7th easiest defense to face. Last week they showed to be even worse against the Jets who were playing rookie Sam Darnold. Jimmy G has good weapons in a very well planned Shanahan scheme against an easy defense. Sign me up!

Sit - Matt Ryan

Matchup - Panthers

I don't know if its Matt Ryan or Sark to blame for the horrendous red zone offense. I just can't trust Ryan until I see a sample size of productive games this year. His matchup is against a top third team against QBs in fantasy points. Carolina has a top notch linebacking core and have a solid D-Line so they can create some pressure.

Start - Isaiah Crowell

Matchup - Dolphins

Crowell started week 1 with a huge bang with over 100 yards and a touchdown. The downside is that he only got 10 touches. I will trust in the Jets that he will get some more touches week and be able to give fantasy owners another really good week. It also helps to play the Dolphins who ranked as the 6th easiest matchup for RB fantasy points, and that doesn't count the loss of Ndamukong Suh. DIal him up for another week.

Sit - Derrick Henry

Matchup - Texans

I already don't like Henry for fantasy purposes, he is the epitome of boom bust and he doesn't have the pass catching ability to become the 3 down back in Tennessee. I would much rather take the shot on Dion lewis because of his PPR floor. Henry has TD upside but isn't the type of player that wins you your league. Not to mention his matchup against the Texans with their full core of D-linemen to stop him.

Start - Sterling Shepard

Matchup - Cowboys

I am down on Evan Engram for this week. I think that each week it will either be Shepard or Engram as the second option in the passing game. Engram has a tough matchup against the Cowboys as a TE, but at the WR position the Cowboys gave up 8th most fantasy points to WR which should give him a low end WR2 or high end WR3 week.

Sit - Davante Adams

Matchup - Vikings

It's so tough to play the Vikings defense, the are one of the top two rosters on defense hands down. Especially when you have to lineup against Xavier Rhodes. It's always a possibility to play well when you have Aaron Rodgers under center, but even he isn't fully healthy. Bad defense with a hurt Aaron Rodgers could be a loosing formula for Adams this week.

Start - Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Matchup - Dolphins

Austin Seferian-Jenkins is an elite talent. Former top 50 player who was drafted in 2nd round of the NFL shows how the NFL thinks of him. He is joining a Rookie QB and could be his safety net for the future. He has a phenomenal matchup against last years second worst defense against TEs, giving up an average of 15.7 points to the position. They have not add much to the defense and Jenkins presents a matchup problem for the Dolphins.

Sit - Evan Engram

Matchup - Cowboys

I love Evan Engram as much as anyone, but there are too many mouths to feed in this offense. Eli is at the end of his career, and is showing his imperfections as each game passes. Odell will always get his huge target share, and the rest will be shared among Shepard, Engram, and Saquan. With a matchup against the Cowboys who last year averages giving 10.1 ppg to the TE position, I will take a hard pass on Engram.
